Rebetiko is a popular, urban Greek form of musical expression that emerged in the early 20th century. These are heartfelt songs about the joys and sorrows of life. Played in the taverns of Athens' ports at the time, they have stood the test of time and continue to accompany the Greek people to this day. Created in 2018 in the Chambéry region, the project takes up and rearranges the rebetiko and laiko repertoire, popular music from the 1920s-1960s, with the aim of immersing the spectator in the authentic atmosphere of the original performers. Pnevmatiko's rich instrumentation features bouzouki, guitar, oud, accordion, baglamas, vocal polyphony and percussion... In 2023, the musical project evolves and offers a more contemporary version of its repertoire, with original compositions mixing Byzantine chants, Balkan dances, African ternary, rock and electronic music.
