Cycling: Quirieu, the sleeping town
Montalieu-Vercieu

Leaving from the Vallée Bleue leisure centre, an unspoilt environment offering a host of activities and events, you'll follow the ViaRhôna cycle path towards the medieval town of Quirieu.
Facing the cliffs of the Bugey region, you'll see the site of Quirieu, which sits on an isolated knoll overlooking the Rhône. In the Middle Ages, this was the site of the Delphine castle and its walled village, designed to strengthen the Dauphiné border. At that time, Savoie was on the other side of the river.
The site occupies the entire 4-hectare plateau. The landscape character of this village, in which nature and vegetation have reclaimed their rights, gives Quirieu its originality. This sleepy village takes on the feel of a fairytale setting, where the imaginary and the poetic rub shoulders with history.
The site is dotted with themed signs, allowing you to discover Quirieu in complete freedom. So take a stroll along the site's paths and head for the orientation tables. You'll discover a breathtaking panoramic view over the medieval site.
