Descent of the mussel canyon
Isère ()
The whole descent takes about 3 hours, so it's easily a half-day trip.
The approach (15 min) and return (5 min) are easy, bucolic and downhill!
The canyon is made up of two sections separated by a 15-minute walk, which is a pleasant way to warm up in cool water. (about 15° on average).
The water is warmer in the afternoon, but the sun shines more brightly on the canyon in the morning.
The choice of half-day (morning or afternoon) is therefore a matter of personal preference...
The difficulties are progressive, so everyone can get into the swing of things at their own pace.
This is a very fun canyon, with a little of everything that makes canyoning so enjoyable:
- abseils (15m, but very easy for the longest)
- Tyrolean traverse with water landing (to be installed as an alternative to the 7m jump or tree-trunk slide)
- numerous slides up to 10m high (the longest in the Isère department!)
- jumps up to 7 or even 10 metres high in some years
- tributary cascades like a "Tahiti shower
- short swims
- tunnels
All this in the magnificent setting of the eastern balcony of the Vercors.
For all these reasons, the canyon des Moules Marinières ranks among the top 5 beginner canyons in the Dauphiné.
Depending on the flow, this canyon is suitable for children aged 8 or 10 and over.
