These martyrs were arrested by the Lyon Gestapo, run by Klaus Barbie, on 6 April 1944. They were held for a night at Fort Montluc before being transferred to Drancy and then to Auschwitz, where 42 were gassed on arrival; two adolescents were shot in Estonia. The location was chosen for its proximity to the Centre for the History of the Resistance.
