This 43.3-kilometer maratrail, with its 3,600 meters of ascent, takes you over the fabulous Plateau d'Emparis and its lakes, in the heart of the Ferrand Valley. A magical setting for a race almost always above 2,000 m altitude, with the added bonus of breathtaking views of the Meije massif and its glaciers. Points of interest: Besse, a traditional Oisans village full of flowers; the Maison des Alpages, a genuine conservatory of pastoral traditions, well worth a visit; the still-working oven at the end of the village, Tourte, Brioches, a variety of breads kneaded by hand and baked over a wood fire!
ATTENTION: The Emparis plateau is part of the Natura 2000 network. The maratrail passes through environments that are home to rare and fragile (or even endangered) animal and plant species.
