The Old bishopric
Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne
Throughout its history, the Palais des évêques has welcomed the Princes of Savoy who have stopped off here. Modified over time, it is a fine example of Baroque architecture. Inside, there is a monumental staircase reminiscent of those found in some of Turin's finest palaces, such as the Palais Madame.
Two symmetrical flights of steps on either side of a corridor create a very Baroque setting: you're sure to be seen! This staircase now leads to the Musée des Costumes, Arts et Traditions Populaires.
The paintings in the hall and staircase were renovated in 2021.
