The travelling museum. Miyazaki readings

Lyon ème

Description

Miyazaki, the director, is not the hero of this project, but he is who we think of as we look back on the numerous ways in which he has cut up, transformed and manipulated these texts and images to bring them to life. We will be travelling through his works, his 10 most important movies, in a sort of a moving museum, hoping that this dive into the hidden side of movies supposedly well-known will stimulate your desire and passion for fiction in all its forms. The exhibition will also focus on your own way of looking at and adapting Miyazaki’s images to your own life, by disguising, creating, transforming and translating them to suit your needs.

Each film will be presented alongside its main literary and visual inspirations, in resonance with the museum's collections (Japanese prints, first editions of books, posters, manga). The threads of numerous complementary subjects will be drawn to compose a lively and moving set of both texts and images, which can be viewed by audiences of all ages.
This exhibition will finally give a voice to artists and children to that they can express their own sensitivities, echoing the intrigues and humanist as well as ecological responses given by Hayao Miyazaki so as to confront the global challenges of our time. For this occasion, artists, chosen by Kiblind magazine, created original illustrations based on an emotion aroused by one of the Miyazaki movies. You will find the works of Simon Bailly, Agathe Bruguière, Antoine Eckart, Camille Gobourg, Hifumyo, Gaelle Loth, Laura Olivieri, Simon Roussin, Jeanne Saboureault and Téo Transinne.

To go further into the questions of adaptation and (re)interpretation, distinguished comic screenwriter Jean-Christophe Deveney will also punctuate the exhibition route through his works.

Visits and workshops will be available from April to September 2024. Many events such as the typography to the magic paper workshop, Museum Night, meetings, European Days of Heritage will punctuate this exhibition.
