Loverman | Festival Europavox 2024

… James De Graef s’est aussi adonné à l’électronique, au post-punk ou au metal, avant d’endosser le costume de Loverman. Sous cet alter ego solo, né au lendemain d’une rupture sentimentale, le chanteur bruxellois pose une voix grave sur des mélodies folk aussi hantées que lumineuses.

Sur Lovesongs, son premier album, Loverman dévoile ses sentiments, entre déclaration d’amour et cri du cœur. Ses chansons exfiltrent les désillusions, embrassent la passion, sans filtre. Disciple de Leonard Cohen ou de Scott Walker, le Belge manie le verbe et la poésie dans des ambiances ultra sophistiquées qui devraient séduire les fans de Bill Callahan, mais aussi ceux de Bertrand Belin, ce nouveau dandy de l’indie-folk se profilant comme une voix à suivre.
